Sponsor a Child

Gloria Hungana, one of our dedicated Community Representatives in Nomzamo, Lwandle, and Zola, has been with Halli Trust since its inception in 2010. During our Strategic Meeting in 2024, she shared a powerful vision for the future. Gloria expressed her desire to see Halli Trust make a lasting impact, not just by distributing food parcels, but by supporting children’s education. She dreams of Halli Trust sponsoring high school and tertiary education and even building more homes for those in need. Inspired by her vision, we discussed the possibility of sponsoring a Grade 7 child for 2025, with the goal of supporting them through high school by 2026. We began searching for a child from our Halli Club who fit the criteria. After careful planning, we realized we didn’t have the funds to move forward with the sponsorship just yet. But then, a wonderful coincidence occurred. Johann Kapp and Roberta Oats, who were visiting us from Switzerland, mentioned that they wanted to sponsor a child—without knowing it was already part of our plans. It was a perfect match. We shared our preparations with them, and everything fell into place. What we had initially envisioned as the “Halli Trust Bursary Fund” was now transformed into the “Sponsoring a Child” initiative.

We are thrilled to announce that Luvuyo Makandula has been selected as the first child to receive this sponsorship. From Grade 7 through Grade 12, all her school clothes, shoes, stationery, and school fees will be covered. This is a dream come true, and it’s thanks to the incredible generosity of Johann and Roberta, and Gloria’s unwavering dedication to creating lasting change.
